My Sleep Number Beds

That’s right. I said, “beds,” plural. My maximum setting: 10.
When I lay down to sleep, I start counting. If I get past 10, I get up and find another bed.
I may have sleep apnea, but I’ve never had insomnia. Did someone say it stormed last night?
Peace in and with God is precious.
Psalm 4:8 (NIV)
“I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.”
What Do You Want on Your Tombstone?
I’m thinking about changing the epitaph for my tombstone. (If Benjamin Franklin can write his own epitaph, so can I.)
Old epitaph: “I told you I was sick.”
New epitaph: “I should have been suspicious when my doctor did television ads for a funeral home.” (No offense intended, Dr. C__.)

Regardless, death will effect us all, eternally.
The only way to enter eternal life is through Jesus Christ.
Otherwise, it will be eternal death.
May your tombstone read: “He trusted in Jesus Christ.”
John 14:6 (NIV)
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
The Compassion System
The human body is made up of several physical systems: digestive, respiratory, circulatory, nervous. These deal with bodily functions that involve input and output with something being processed in-between: food, air, blood, sensory. Likewise, each of us have spiritual systems, one of which is the love system. Love is imputed by God; we process it, and then it is dispensed. When the processing is defective it will impact the input and the output. How are you dealing with the love of God?
2 Corinthians 5:14 (NASB)
“For the love of Christ controls us.”
“Chance Favors the Prepared Mind.” – Louis Pasteur
Revelation 3:8 (NASB)
“I know your deeds. Behold, I have put before you an open door which no one can shut, because you have a little power, and have kept My word, and have not denied My name.”
Don’t be like the many who spend their lives seeking the right opportunity. Be like the few who are prepared and faithful and opportunity will seek you.
Abraham Lincoln said, “I will study and get ready and maybe the chance will come.”
Besides, what good is opportunity if you are not prepared?
Make an Impact
Acts 17:6b (NKJV)
“These who have turned the world upside down have come here too.”
John, Paul, George and Ringo. Yes, forty years after the breakup of the Beatles, we still remember their names. Even though they only worked together as a group for only 8 years, they have had a major and long-lasting impact on the music industry and our world.
You and I can also impact other people’s lives as we let God use us as the unique individuals we are and as a group united together in Jesus.
Make an Impact!
Dry Clean Only
The suit I was going to wear this morning was dirty. Fortunately, our new dishwasher has a dry clean setting.

So before I left the house, I put the suit in and started the dishwasher.
Obviously, a dishwasher does not and can not do dry cleaning. Likewise, those who are living by and through their sinful nature do not and can not please God.
Romans 8:8 (NASB)
“And those who are in the flesh cannot please God.”
Why Jesus Came

We go to the doctor to get a shot so that we might get well. The first speaks of the reason and the latter of the purpose.
Likewise, Jesus came to die on a cross (the reason) so that we might live now and forever with Him (the purpose).
We thank God that He did for us what we could not do for ourselves.
1 Thessalonians 5:10 (NIV)
“He (Jesus) died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with Him.”
The Domino Effect
We’ve all seen them and most of us enjoy them: those large, intricate displays of dominos. Someone tips one over and soon all the dominos are knocked over.
We have seen this happen among Christians, too. One falls and it sets in motion a chain reaction of others falling. We are responsible, not only for our own mistakes and short-comings, but also those who trip because of us.
Romans 14:13 (NASB)
“Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather determine this–not to put an obstacle or a stumbling block in a brother’s way.”
It Is Well

“When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.
Refrain:
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.”
Whether in the midst of severe storm or enjoying restful calm, may you know the peace of Christ which passes all our understanding.
Mark 4:39 (KJV)
“And He (Jesus) arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, ‘Peace, be still.’ And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.”
WORDpower
He simply spoke the Word, “Let there be light,” and light was created. His Word still has the same power today. Use His Word for His purpose and you will know WORDpower.
Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
