Keep the Dream Alive

Now life has killed the dream I dreamed. These depressing and hopeless words are found in the novel, play and music of “Les Miserables.” The first time they stung my heart was when Susan Boyle sang them in 2009 (see link).

The Apostle Paul might have had these thoughts when he was imprisoned in Jerusalem and God sent an angel to encourage him (Acts 23:11). Paul had dreamed of preaching in Rome; however, he was locked in a prison in Jerusalem. Letting life, or anything, kill your dream can be depressing, devastating and detrimental.

Don’t let life, or anything, kill your dream. Instead, fix your hope in the Lord who is faithful to fulfil what He has promised and He will bring to pass the dreams He puts in your hearts. Keep your hope in the Lord, not in the dream itself.

Hebrews 10:23 (NIV)
“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.”
